New discovery

After finding the serial number on the tranny bellhousing, and the matching number on the frame, I discovered that my truck is a 1942, not a 1946 like I had originally thought. There is hardly any difference between 42 through 47.

I pulled all the plug wires, the distributor, the fan and all the belts. My father came over and helped get the bolt to the generator off (after I loosened it)...

Working on the electric with my assistant...

Trying to figure out the tangled mess. There are a lot of Mainer-rigged wires and wires that go nowhere.

Had my trusted assistant take pictures and work on the screws

All out...

Starting the tear down

The hood was gravy...

but getting the fenders off was more of a challange. Between the cramped space...

and having to torch most of the 16 bolts per side...

it took a while. After buying a new dremel and cutting most of the bolts I got them off.

The kids were thrilled for me

Before

July 28 I finally began tearing down the 46 Ford truck to do a complete restoration...
I stocked up on every size of ziploc, masking tape, sharpies and got the digital camera all charged.
